BIO
Michele Comrie is a Toronto based pianist, working as an accompanist and teacher throughout the GTA. Specializing in RCM prep, she teaches students of all ages and abilities. Michele is quickly establishing herself as a private teacher and is excited to continue growing her home studio in Leslieville.
Ms. Comrie is a graduate of the University of Toronto where she completed a Bachelor of Music studying with Boyanna Toyich. Michele is a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association, and is the Director of Music at Mount Carmel Zion United Church in Guelph.
Alongside her busy teaching schedule, Michele also works as an accompanist and a performer. For the past two years, she has worked at North Toronto Collegiate as an accompanist and coach for students in the elite band program. Michele is an experienced accompanist of the Kiwanis Music Festival and RCM exams, where she collaborates with students in all disciplines. An avid performer, Michele is in high demand for weddings and special events in Southern Ontario. She enjoys collaborating with the host to create a memorable experience for her clients.
When not playing the piano, Michele can be found exploring Toronto, looking for the best new micro-breweries and cheap eats. Along with her love for piano, Michele is a self-taught guitarist and a trained alto saxophonist. A life long learner, she is always looking to expand her knowledge of musical genres, specifically Jazz improvisation along with Rock and Pop. She enjoys incorporating these styles into her teaching and playing, while passing on her love of music.
Accustomed to teaching a wide-range of students in age and ability, Michele enjoys finding new ways to teach each student that fits their unique style. She has coached students towards First Class Honours in RCM exams, festival competitions, learning new styles of Rock and Pop, and even beginner jazz improvisation.
